Goodbye Restaurant 's Goodbye...

Today was our last day eating out for a VERY long time. We have come to the realization how poor college students we really are and no matter how much we truly enjoy going out to eat its just not in the budget. Goodbye my sweet delicious Aussie cheese fries, I will miss you (of course not the 3,000 calories they are!! YIKES!!) The only time I can see us breaking this is when my Mommy, Johnny and Parker come into town for a few days (only a week away YEAH!!!) and we will try to steer clear but I'm sure we will have to make an exception or two. BUT NO MORE!! Hopefully my waistline will be smaller and Jeremy's flight account bigger! Here's to being strong!!! I will avoid the temptations!

Update Update Update

Today has been an eventful day. Reese had her pitikia - small broken blood vessels come back AGAIN for the 3rd time. So I called Dr. Weipert and he wanted to see her. When we got there he wanted another blood test ran. We already know that this whatever it is, is not in her bones so we need to figure out what it is. So off to American Fork Hospital (where she was born) to get another blood test. Hopefully we hear back tonight but probaly not considering he said he wants to talk to a specialist about what it can possibly be. He doesn't think its anything serious or life threatning. He is thinking that she may have a platelet disorder. Which mean what? I have no idea. I guess I will find out when he calls. Reese was a champ getting her blood taken though, the poked and she didn't start crying until they had to wiggle it around because they couldn't find a vein. Jeremy gave her a piece of gum afterwards and she was great! LOL! Babies can be distracted so easy sometimes (thank goodness!) I will post when we get an update to let everyone know what is going on.

Happy Birthday Devin!

Today is my little sister Devin's 15th birthday. I don't even know if she ever looks at my blog but I just wanted to tell her how proud of her I am. She is such a beautiful daughter of our Heavenly Father. She is so kind and loving. I am so proud of the choices that she has made and I know will continue to make. I love you so much Devin. I am so happy that you have been able to come out to Utah and we have been able to grow closer together as sisters. I love you and I hope you have a GREAT birthday! Hugs and Kisses from Utah!

Sleeping Beauty

My sweet little angel has returned!(for the most part). Today was such a good day! She was so sweet and giggly today. We had lots of fun hanging out with daddy on his day off. I had an appointment with Dr. Stacey about my foot and so far so good. I had X-rays done and I will get the results tomorrow (since they didn't call me today). Everything is looking good for far, so no surgery as of right now. Here is a picture of Reese when she fell asleep tonight. She has been reading one book in bed at night when we put her down with her night light on. Most nights she will fall asleep really quickly with her book and she doesn't cry out as much anymore.

I'm Yellow...what color are you?

Take this test!
You're yellow, the color of joy and energy — two things you definitely bring to everyone around you. It's hard for anyone to be sad or lonely in your presence; your sunny disposition and cheery outlook just won't allow it. The warmth of your personality shines through in the kindness you show friends and family (and strangers, too). Always ready with a lighthearted joke or heartfelt compliment, you know how to make people feel good about themselves, so they can't get enough of you. Yellow is a warm and inviting color for a warm and inviting person — you!

Cooking up some memories in the kitchen....

Tonight I was cooking enchiladas (thank you Lisa) for dinner and Reese was being really grumpy today (see previous post :) ) and I wanted her to be happy so as I was gathering the ingredient's, I let her have at it in the kitchen. She was getting the ingredients for me (not the right ones but who cares) and being a really sweet girl. So I put her on the counter with me and we grated cheese, she thought this was very cool and was enthralled with me grating cheese. She also was eating all the cheese that happened to fall outside the bowl, and then when I was done began to eat the cheese in the bowl. So the process had to repeat itself a few times and a few blocks of cheese later I was going to put the enchiladas together and Reese decided to help herself to a few tortillas. LOL. Some of our tortillas have love (bite) marks in them. :) Before I was putting the food together she helped herself to some green onions out of the bag and decided to munch on those too! Funny girl. Do you think she was hungry? When I got done and was going to clean up she wiggles across the counter and began to help herself to the enchiladas sauce. It was so cute and full of sweet memories of my baby girl and I cooking dinner together. We will have to do it together more often.

Reese had reached terrible twos....already

"Oh where, Oh where had my sweet baby gone, Oh where, Oh where could she be?" Well as you probably already guessed my sweet little angel is acting a little less than an angel recently. Given she has been sick but when ever she doesn't get what she wants she will through a FIT!!! She throws herself into furniture, on the ground, throws things at us or just to be destructive. Now she still is my sweet little angel and I love my less than sweet baby more than ever but boy does she have a temper!! YIKES! You don't believe me? Here is the proof.....you might want to turn the volume on your computer. Such an actress. When I was uploading the video she was watching herself and was as quiet and as calm as could be. Go figure.

Valentines Dinner

Yesterday didn't really feel like Valentines or anything special, Reese was awful during the day, no nap and was throwing a fit like I have never seen her throw before. Jeremy and I are both sick so its very hard to be romantic when we are both coughing in each others faces. Not so cute. But I did manage to make Jeremy his special jam cookies and looking at them right now is going to make me gag, the recipe make MILLIONS of them. Note to self, cut recipe down!!! I made a great dinner if I can say so myself :). I made the recipe of my great cooking website link. It was rib eye steak, mashed taters and asparagus. I thought we where going to have a great little romantic dinner. LOL. Yeah right, we do have a 15 month old right? No, it wasn't that bad. Reese was great at dinner, she LOVES asparagus...YUMMY! She actually ate a bit of steak too. She was really cute with her sparking apple cider, usually she downs juice not even stopping to take a breather but the had to with the cider because it was to "sparkly" for her. It was cute. She also like the candles on the table. We had to move them away to a baby safe distance. But all in all it was a good Valentines day with the two people I love the most. I couldn't think of anyone else I would of rather been with. Even with all the coodies they have they still are my sweethearts. Just look at that sweet smiling face. :)

Happy Valentines Day!

Happy Valentines Day! We really aren't celebrating here because we all are sick, Reese has her very first ear infection. YUCK. Poor baby, she hasn't been tugging at her ear at all we took her in because she had a bad rash and the doctor looked at her ear and was surprised she wasn't showing any signs of pain he said it was a pretty bad infection. But she is on antibiotics now and hopefully the rest of us will be feeling better soon.

Whole Wheat Bread Recipe

Here is the recipe for the whole wheat bread. It's not a bread maker recipe. I just bought 4 loaf pans and cooked them in the oven.

INGREDIENTS

  • 1/3 cup shortening
  • 1 cup hot water
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 3 (.25 ounce) packages active dry yeast
  • 4 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 4 tablespoons white sugar
  • 4 teaspoons salt
  • 6 cups bread flour
  • 6 cups whole wheat flour
number of stars

  1. Dissolve brown sugar in 1 cup hot water. Add shortening, and stir to melt. Let cool.
  2. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in 4 cups warm water. Add white sugar, salt, and bread flour. Beat well. Stir in shortening mixture. Stir in enough whole wheat flour to make a stiff but not dry dough.
  3. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead until smooth and elastic. Place in a large, well oiled bowl. Cover, and allow to rise until dough doubles in bulk.
  4. Divide dough into four equal parts. Shape into loaves. Place in greased, 9 x 5 inch pans, turning each loaf over in pan to grease top. Allow to rise until dough doubles in bulk.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 35 minutes. Let cool before slicing.

It's MEELLLTTIINNNGGG

Finally we haven't had snow in awhile. In saying this it will probaly snow tonight. I am so excited for spring. I can't wait for the warm weather. Taking Reese to the pool, playing with her friends in the grass and not having to cross children across the road in a blizzard. Yeah for SPRING!!

Homemade Bread

Last night I made homemade whole wheat bread for the first time. It came out very yummy. My recipe made 4 loaves. I felt like Suzy Homemaker last night making bread. Its healthier for my family, yummier and cheaper!! Here are some pictures of my bread.

Can you find the cats?

Jeremy took this picture of the cats. I think they feel at home. Reminds me of the stuff on your cat book. LOL. Can you find the kitties?

Big Girl Seat

Yesterday we moved Reese over to a booster seat at the table. She loves it. She gets to sit like a big girl with mommy and daddy. I'm glad to get that big ol' high chair out of our house for awhile. She looks so cute in her chair. She is getting so big!!
